Four Inputs and Two Component Video Outputs
Supports all HDTV modes 480i through 1080p, including 720p and 1080i. Each input consists of five analog channels (Pr/Pb/Y/Left/Right) and one channel of Digital Audio. Analog audio channels are routed using the same high-bandwith relay switches as the video channels, and can be used to route H & V components (using proper adapter cables) for an RGBHV switch, supports all RGBHV PC modes. Primary output is passive, while secondary output is driven using a built in distribution amplifier. Only the Pr/Pb/Y channels are available on the secondary output.

Passive Switching of Analog Signals
The HDS4.2 passively switches its analog signals using high quality relays designed specifically for switching low level signals such as those used in the audio and component video paths. When compared to a active analog switch (using analog switching ICs), relays are a more expensive solution for routing signals. However relays offer a switching quality like that of physically swapping cables, without the added noise and distortion that is inherent in active switches. This also allows the HDS4.2 to be used in reverse. Output one can be used as an input and switched to each of four outputs. When driven in reverse, output two will still be available as a buffered version of output one.

Built in Distribution Amplifier for Secondary Output
In a fully passive switch, all source termination is done by the device connected to the input of the switch, be it a DVD player, or a cable box, or some other video source. The advantage of a passive switching is very low noise and distortion figures, the disadvantage is the inability to drive long cable lengths on its output. The HDS4.2 gives you the best of both types of switches with the addition of a high-quality distribution amplifier, used to drive the secondary component video output. The distribution amplifier is source terminated to 75 ohms, and can drive high quality component video cables up to 100ft. By properly terminating both ends of the component video cables, source termination dampens cable reflections that can lead to smearing and blurring of sharp edges in the video image. Only the Pr/Pb/Y signals are available on the secondary output.

High Quality Gold Clad, Silver-Palladium Relays
All analog signals are switched using high quality relays with gold clad, silver-palladium (AgPd) contacts. The combination of gold clad on silver-palladium while expensive, holds the highest rating for long life, when switching low level signals such as those found in analog audio and video paths. Be wary of competitors who advertise "gold plating", as plating can leave pin holes in the gold which can lead to corrosion over the years. Each analog channel is routed using a separate relay, thus reducing the possibility of cross talk between channels, when compared to the less expensive design of using multi-contact relays, where multiple signals are routed through a single relay.

Gold Plated Connections
Gold plated RCA connectors are used throughout the design to reduce the possibility of contact generated noise caused by corrosion.

Toslink and SPDIF Digital Audio
Both Toslink (Optical) and SPDIF (Coax) can be routed through the HDS4.2. Either input will be accepted and both Toslink and SPDIF are available as outputs simultaneously. All conversions between formats are done as needed.

Front Panel Control of Switching
Front panel buttons are available to directly select each input. You are not forced to sequence through all inputs when switching from input two back to input one.

Features Zektor's Exclusive IIR Learning
The HDS4.2 features Zektor's exclusive IIR (Intelligent Infra-Red) learning. Zektor's IIR learning allows the HDS4.2 to work with virtually any remote control! Control the HDS4.2 with an obsolete TV remote. The HDS4.2 also works great with any universal remote control.

Full Featured Remote Control Interface
A full featured IR command set is available using any remote control, including commands such as: Power Toggle, Bright/Dim/Auto Display Modes, Direct Channel Selection, Channel Up, Channel Down and for better integration with universal remotes with macro capabilities, the discrete commands Power On, and Power Off are also available.

Optional RS-232
For compatibility with Crestron or AMX type setups, an RS-232 module is available for the HDS4.2 The bi–directional RS-232 protocol allows for full control and inquiry of the current HDS4.2 state.

Auto Dimming Display
The LED indicator lights can be set to Bright, Dim, or an Auto Dim mode. The Auto Dim mode will fade the LEDs to half power about 4 seconds after a channel is selected.

Rack Mountable Metal Enclosure (1RU)
Enclosed in a steel chassis with a machined, brushed aluminum front panel, and available in black or silver, the HDS4.2 easily integrates into your existing hometheater environment.

Optional International Power Supply
Available with an international power supply for 90-264VAC, 47-63Hz operation. The international supply comes with adapters for UK, EURO, AUS and USA use.
